There is still time to sign up!  For more information, go to the Ohr Chadash website:

The Ohr Chadash Religious School is a joint venture of  Hillcrest Jewish Center, Hollis Hills Jewish Center, and Israel Center of  Conservative Judaism.  Begun in September 2008, the school is proud to  announce that in May 2009, it was recognized as a “Framework for Excellence  School” by the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.

Ohr Chadash is one of a select group of after school religious  schools in the State of New York to receive this status which we have maintained  for the past 5 years. This prestigious certification marks the fact that Ohr  Chadash Religious School has met rigorous standards in all academic areas including  professional development, curriculum, and family education. Further, Ohr  Chadash has demonstrated that it has met all of the goals, aims, and benchmarks  necessary to be considered a school of exceptional academic quality.

We are particularly proud of our newly appointed, experienced  and skilled Education Director, Ruth Merrill.   Morah Ruth is committed to providing an exciting, kid-friendly,  high-quality, joyful education for all of the Ohr Chadash students. As an  accomplished educator, Morah Ruth had taught at Hillcrest Jewish Center for  seven years prior to the formation of our  present joint Synagogue program, five years ago.  Her long term commitment to the school and  the Queens Jewish Community is a great asset for Ohr Chadash going forward. She  has put her mark on our school by enabling the continued Framework of  Excellence designation by USCJ.

Along with Morah Ruth, we are fortunate to have a group of seasoned,  capable and dedicated staff of teachers, many who have been with us from the  start, five years ago. Finally, we must mention our very involved and talented  clergy; Rabbi Kogan, Rabbi Wise, and Rabbi Fryer Bodzin, who volunteer their  time and energy to teach and inspire all of our class grades.

Ohr Chadash strongly feels that we play a vital role in Jewish  youth education, transmitting Jewish traditions, building a Jewish identity and  instilling a sense of community in our students.

We hope that when you are considering an after-school Jewish  education program, you will consider contacting the Ohr Chadash Religious  School.
